MAGILL

WALKER FAMILY LINAGE

WILLIAM MAGILL, SR.
 
William MAGILL Sr. is believed to be born about 1670 in Scotland and 
went to Ireland before 1715. From there he came to America. He lived in 
Augusta Co VA and died in VA in 1749. His will was made on 10 Oct. 1749 
and proven in court on 29 Nov. 1749 in which he mentions his wife, 
Marget; sons: James, John, William Jr. and Elizabeth MAGILL.

WILLIAM MAGILL, JR.

William MAGILL Jr., born about 1714 in VA, died in 28 October 1806 in 
Greene Co TN. He lived his early life in Rockingham Co VA, moving to 
Greene Co TN in his middle years. He settled on Meadow Creek where he 
spent his remaining years. In his will dated 19 July 1806, Will Book 1, 
page 151, Greene Co TN, he provides a comfortable living for "My dearly 
and well beloved wife", Jean MAGILL. He specified all household 
furniture, some cattle, his riding mare, and a Negro woman named Jude. 
Also mentioned in the will are sons: Samuel, William, James, Robert, 
John, Hugh, and Charles MAGILL and Elizabeth WALKER, my daughter, wife 
to Thomas WALKER.

Samuel MAGILL, no birth date, married 4 November 1782 in Rockingham Co 
VA to Martha SHANNON. He died in Greene Co TN. His will, proven 23 
September 1809, names his wife, children and brothers: James, Hugh and 
Charles MAGILL.

James MAGILL, born1756 in Rockingham or Augusta Co VA married (1) Betsy 
EVENS (2) Mary MCMEANS. He was a soldier of the Revolutionary War. He 
died in 1839 in Monroe Co TN.

Robert MAGILL married Mary CRAIG on 16 December 1797.

John MAGILL married Nancy Jane EDMISTEN on 6 October 1785.

Elizabeth MAGILL, daughter of William MAGILL Jr. and wife, Jean, 
married Thomas WALKER, Sr., son of John WALKER Sr.on 6 October 1787.
Children of Elizabeth MAGILL and Thomas WALKER Sr were William, James 
Magill, Jane, Rebecca, Peggy, Sally, Joseph, Susan, and Tom WALKER. Tom 
died young.
