All of this research was done by Ina Alice Walker King, my Great-Aunt, and presented to the family as a privately published book. John WALKER, SR. John WALKER, married to Mary ANDERSON, was a soldier of the Revolutionary War born in the early 1700's. On September 20, 1789 he received two land grants, for a total of 275 acres on Meadow Creek in Greene County, Tennessee. Both grants recorded. He lived and died there. His will dated 18 February 1796 was probated later that year. He mentions his wife, Mary ANDERSON WALKER and sons, John, Thomas, Anderson and Daniel WALKER. Also son-in-law Michal BLEW. The widow, Mary, lived seven years longer. Her estate was settled on 28 January 1803. Children: 1. John WALKER, Jr. married Rebecca MAGILL 22 May 1788 in Greene County, TN 2. Daniel WALKER born about 1761 and died 31 March 1834 at age 73. He married Martha KILGORE, daughter of Charles KILGORE, a Revolutionary War soldier at King's Mountain, on 6 May 1788. Daniel WALKER, in the War of 1812, was Lt. of Militia. He was also a soldier of the Revolution, serving in Capt. TURNER's company from Casswell and Calhoun Counties, NC under the command of Col. McDOWELL. 3. Anderson WALKER lived at the old home place on Meadow Creek in Greene County TN after his father's death and cared for his mother until her death in 1803. 4. Mrs. Michal BLEW 5. Thomas WALKER, Sr. married 6 Oct. 1787 in Greene County TN to Elizabeth MAGILL, born in VA, daughter of William and Jean MAGILL. Thomas WALKER a wounded veteran of the Revolutionary War was the first of our ancestors to move to Blount County TN along with his family in the early 1800's. Family Record of Thomas WALKER and Elizabeth MAGILL WALKER 1. William WALKER married Elizabeth (Betsy) CULBERTSON 2. James Magill WALKER married Phoebe TAYLOR. 3. Rebecca WALKER was born 10 Aug. 1802 and died 5 Dec. 1887. She married Elijah HATCHER in Blount Co TN on 6 August 1819. 4. Joseph (Joe) WALKER married Sarah GUINN. 5. Margaret (Peggy) WALKER married Eli TIPTON on 16 Sept. 1814 in Blount Co TN. 6. Jane WALKER married John GUINN on 8 April 1812 in Blount Co. TN. 7. Sally WALKER married James TIPTON 8. Susan WALKER married Robert MAGILL 9. Tom WALKER died young. Thomas WALKER (Devlin' Tom), got his nickname because he was always teasing people. Tom Walker and wife, Eliza Jane MYERS , owned several acres of land along the foot of Cove Mountain in Wear's Valley, Sevier County, TN. With a homesite in the vicinity of what is now known as Cove Mont, he raised a family there and as each of his sons married, he would build them a house nearby on his land. After his wife, Eliza, died, he married Eva Rosanna MAPLES KING (widow of Lewis KING) on 3 April 1879 (five days after Eliza died). They had no children. Thomas and Eliza WALKER are both buried in Mattox cemetery, Sevier County, TN.
