KNOX COUNTY, KY - DEEDS - Alexander and Sally McKay to Giles Parman ----¤¤¤---- Contributor's Note: Giles Parman and his wife Phoebe Woolsey Parman were married in Greene County, TN in 1799, and lived in that county through 1813. Conveyance - Alexander McKay and Giles Parman 150 Acres - Little Poplar Creek, Knox County Knox County Deed Book D, Page 117 Dated 10 September 1832 This indenture made and entered into this 25th of August 1832 between Alexander McKay and Sally, his wife, of Knox County on the one part and Giles Parman, on the other part, both of Knox County and State of Kentucky, Witnesseth that this day the said McKay, and wife hath bargained and sold a certain parcel of land lying and being in the county and state aforesaid and for the consideration of one hundred and sixty four dollars in hand. Paid the receipt, whereof is hereby acknowledged. The land laying and being in the county and state aforesaid, on Little Poplar Creek, containing one hundred and fifty acres in two surveys, one survey of one hundred acres, one survey of fifty acres, the hundred acres bounded round as followeth: Beginning on the south side of said creek on the side of a hill at two white oaks; thence N 54 E to Cottralls N W corner 8 poles, and with said Cottrall west line crossing said creek in all, 64 poles to two post oaks on the point of a ridge; thence N 36 W 112 poles to a black oak on the top of a ridge; thence S 54 W 48 poles to a black oak; thence N 50 W 40 poles to two white oaks; thence S 54 W crossing said creek, 120 poles to a hickory and poplar; thence S 72 E 195 poles to the beginning with appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land, containing two surveys with its appurtenance to the said Giles Parman, his heirs forever, and the said Alexander McKay and wife, on their part doth warrant and forever defend for themselves, their heirs and all other persons whatsoever. And if the said land or any part thereof should be lost by any better claim, then and in that can said McKay shall pay back the purchase money with interest, in proportion to what is lost. Alexander McKay x Sally McKay x Knox County Be it remembered that on the 25th day of August 1832, personally appeared before us two Justices of the Peace, for said County, Alexander McKay and Sally, his wife, and acknowledged the wit in deed to be their act and deed and she the said wife of said McKay, separate and apart from her husband, by us examined declared that she had made the same acknowledgements freely and with her own consent, without being in dread, there to from force or threats of her said husband.
