KNOX COUNTY, KY - DEEDS - Leonard C. and Unice Shoemaker to Giles Parman, Sr. ----¤¤¤---- Contributor's Note: Giles Parman and his wife Phoebe Woolsey Parman were married in Greene County, TN in 1799, and lived in that county through 1813. Conveyance - Leonard C. Shoemaker and Giles Parman, Senior 660 Acres - Land Cumberland River - Flatt Creek Knox County Deed Book B, Page 280 Dated 11 December 1813 This indenture made this 29th day of November 1813; between Leonard C. Shoemaker and Unice Shoemaker, his wife, of Knox County and State of Kentucky of the one part and Giles Parman Sr. of the county and state aforesaid and of the other part, Witnesseth that he said Leonard C. Shoemaker and Unice his wife for and in consideration of the sum of 1200 dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged, hath this day bargained and sold with the said Giles Parman Sr. four certain tracts of parcels of land containing by estimation 660 acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows: to wit 200 acres beginning on a sugar tree and walnut, thence N 7 W 188 poles running along a conditional line of Slaughters to a red oak and poplar, thence N 81 W 153 poles to a red and white oak, thence S 9 W 180 poles crossing Flatt Creek to a white oak and beech standing on the side of a hill; thence S 81 and E 217 poles to the beginning. Also 60 acres joining the above, to wit, beginning on the back line of a survey of 200 acres entered in the name of John Slaughters at a maple; thence S 8 and E 91 poles to a black walnut and sugar tree thence; S 6 W 44 poles to an elm; thence S 82 E 36 poles to 3 maples on the river bank; thence N 30 E 12 poles; thence N 37 E 26 poles; thence N 92 E 34 poles; thence N 22 E 70 poles to a hickory and poplar; thence N 83 E 100 poles to the beginning 200 acres more beginning at 3 maples, John Slaughter lower corner on Cumberland River; thence N 83 W 36 to a sugar plum on other of Slaughters corner; thence N 6 E 44 poles to a black walnut and sugar tree corner to Slaughters and White; thence NW with said White line 100 poles to a hickory; thence S 53 and E 166 poles to a white oak; thence S 61 E 100 poles to a white oak Spurlocks outer corner; thence N 55 E 100 poles to a beech and oak on the river bank; thence up the same with its different meanders there of to the beginning 200 acres more beginning at a small elm and black oak standing on Cumberland River bank; thence S 57 W 214 poles running with Dixon’s line to a white oak and dogwood; thence N 63 W 170 poles to a white oak on the top of a ridge; thence N 57 E 214 poles to a beech and black oak on the river bank; thence running down the river with its different meanders there of to the beginning. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land before mentioned with all it appurtenances here unto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the only proper use of him, the said Giles Parman Sr., his heirs and assign, for ever free from the claims of him the said Leonard or Unice, his wife, or their heirs and assigns or from the commonwealth of Kentucky; or from any person claiming from, by, or through the said Leonard and wife, their heirs or assigns, but no other person or person whatsoever will warrant and for ever defend the same in writing whereof we have here unto set our hands and seals the day and date above written. Shoemaker and Unice, his wife, to Giles Parman, Sr., was presented to me and in my office on the 29th day of November 1813 and acknowledged by the said Leonard C. Shoemaker to be this act and deed and on the 6th day of December 1813, acknowledged by the said Unice Shoemaker to be her act and deed being previously examined as the law requires touching her right of dower which she freely relinquished is witness whereof and that the same is truly recorded in my office have here unto sat my hand.
