He was born September 5, 1156, in Chester County, Pennsylvania, while residing in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, he enlisted in January, 1776 or 1777, in Captain Samuel Duncan's and Captain Ebenezer Brady s Pennsylvania companies. After the Revolution he moved to Washington County, Tennessee, and lived there and in Greene County for many years. He then moved to Grainger County, Tennessee, where he died.
