Honeycutt Jack N. Honeycutt, 84, 107 Lacy Hollow Road, Elizabethton, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Honeycutt was the son of the late Grover S. Sr. and Bettie Shelton Honeycutt. He was a native of Greene County, however, he lived most of his life in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. Mr. Honeycutt was retired from North American Rayon Corporation with 37 years of service, and was also a former employee of Powell Construction Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, The American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. He was a dedicated walker who was awarded a plaque by the Elizabethton Recreation Department for that dedication. He worked with Meals on Wheels, sang at area nursing homes, loved to play golf and garden. Mr. Honeycutt was the "Best Buddy" to his grandchildren and great- grandchildren and he had a good sense of humor. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ethel Cole Honeycutt, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Teresa Honeycutt, David and Shirley Honeycutt and Steve and Hester Honeycutt, all of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Chris and wife Tina Honeycutt, Nicole McNally, Jacob Honeycutt, Abigail Honeycutt and Jesse Honeycutt, all of Elizabethton; and three great- grandchildren, Catie Turner, Mallory McNally and Samuel Honeycutt, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The Celebration of Life service for Mr. Honeycutt will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Seals and the Rev. Jim Lindsey officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, and at the residence at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 12 noon Thursday, March 8, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Chris Honeycutt, Jacob Honeycutt and Jesse Honeycutt. Other pallbearers will be Conley Peake, Dave Honeycutt, Willie Church and David McQueen. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Emmaus Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, his nursing home singing friends, friends at the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Center, his friends and neighbors and all his many friends at Immanuel Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
