He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Jackson and Millie Burzy Self; son, Ruddy Self; daughter, Mary Sue Statzer; and sisters, Ida Kennedy, Tilda Fields and Mable Self. He was a member and deacon of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Bulls Gap and was retired from Jeffrey Chain in Morristown. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Anna Florence Self; son, R.J. Self of Knoxville; daughters, Gay Musick and Betty Nicely, both of Morristown, and Francis Statzer of Lebanon; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Gobble of Mountain City and Lillie Reynolds of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday at Allen Funeral Home with Revs. Henry Wheeler and Richard Watts officiating. Interment will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. prior to the funeral. Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
