He was born in Bedford County, Va. in 1740. He entered the service in Bedford County, Va. under Capt. John Arwin and Col. Callaway. He moved from Bedford County to Washington County, Ga. about two years after the Revolution. He then moved to Buncombe County, N. C. to Perry County, Ky. and from there to Hamilton County, Tenn.
