Mask family information by Charlotte

William was the son of John Mask Jr., and Sallie Allen Mask.  John Jr. was the son of John Sr. and lived in Anson County, NC at a place called Mask's Ferry.  William and Lydia were married in 1822 and moved to Mt. Comfort, Hardeman Co., TN. in 1834.  Other members of the Mask family who moved to Hardeman Co., TN. were Pleasant Moses Mask born 1787 died 1847 married Winniferd T. Pemberton sister of Lydia and Walter L. Mask born 1795 died 1835 married Sarah unknown maiden name.

Children of William & Lydia were:
1. Sarah 1823-1837
2. Dr. James Marshall 1825-1891 married Elizabeth Jane McKinnie in 1852 daughter of David & Bethenia McKinnie
3. John P. 1829-1837
4. William C. 1831-1857
5. Catherine 1833-1875 married William F. Hancock in 1855 son of Robert & Mary K. Jones Hancock.

Dr. James Marshall & Elizabeth children were:
1. John Edwin 1854-1921 married Dorothy Clark Dunavant in 1883 daughter of Col. William Pemberton & Elizabeth Anderson Dunavant of Buckingham Co., VA.
2. Ida married Dwight McNeely in 1873
3. Elizabeth 1858-1880 married W.D. Newbern

Dr. James M. Mask married second Sarah Myrick Harkins Boyd daughter of Hugh Harkins.  Their children were:
1. James Marshall Jr.
2. Hugh Myrick 1881-1950
3. Dorothy Jane 1885-1951 married W.L. Battle
