All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tn/tnfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Cheryl Thompson Cherylt4@prodigy.net June 16, 2006, 8:59 pm Written: April 27, 1880 Samuel Tozer and wife, Deed 5 acres, To} Walnut Baptist Church Colored, Eldridge Chisum et al trustees, RT Ammons RHC, Registered April 27” 1880, This indenture made this the 13” day of January In the year 1880 between Samuel Tozer and wife OA Tozer of the first part and Eldridge Chisum, James Nearing, Benjamin Black, George Smith and Charles Willis Trustees of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church (colored) of the second part all Of the State of Tennessee Hardeman County Witnessed that for and in Consideration of the sum of twenty five dollars in hand paid by said trustees aforesaid for the church. The said Samuel Tozer and wife O A Tozer do hereby transfer and convey to the aforesaid trustees for the aforesaid church and to their successors in office forever for the use of the aforesaid church a certain tract of land or parcel of land lying in the aforesaid County and State in the civil district no 13 of said county on the waters of Hays Creek and amended as follows: Beginning at a stake with Hickory Black oaks and dogwood pointers. The south East corner of a 4 ¾ Acre lot belonging to the Bethehem MC Church South (Colored) and runs east thirty four and a half poles to a stake with white oak and dogwood pointers: Thnce west 34 poles to a stake with white oak and Hickory Pointers. Thence south 28 poles to the beginning containing 5 acres more or less. To have and to hold to the afore said trustees and their successors in office as aforesaid the before recited land and bargained premises with all the rights and privileges thereunto belonging to them and their successors in office forever. And the said Samuel Tozer and wife O A Tozer bind themselves and their representatives or assigns forever to warrant the title to the said Trustees and successors in office forever against the lawful claims of all persons; In testimony of which we hereunto set our hands and seals the day and date above written.
