I'm not sure what it was for but thought it interesting. There is a second hand written document identical to this one signed by R.F. Ammons, S.H. Justice, A.G. Shaw and George A. Dorris same dates on both. Any ideas what it was for? Write to Charlotte: ===================================================================================== I solemnly swear that I will henceforth support the Constitution of the United States & defend it against the assaults of all its enemies, that I am an active friend of the government of the United States. That I will hearty aid and assist the loyal people in whatever measure may be adapted under the Constitution of the United States and under all laws & proclamations made in pursuance thereof to establish the National authority over the people of every State, and embrace in the national Union, and that I will faithfully and most heartily defend and support the Constitution of the State of Tennessee, and the amendments & Schedule thereunto appended and adopted by the people on this 22 day of February 1865. Also all acts of the General Assembly in accordance therewith & that I take this oath freely, voluntarily, & without mental reservation, so help me God. Sworn before me this 3 day of March 1866 Jno.
