He and his son-in-law, Bob Redman, went to the woods to cut a tree, and as it fell one of the limbs struck Hatch over the right temple, killing him instantly. On the morning of the fatal accident one of Mr. Hatche's sons insisted, on account of his age, that his father use the teams in hauling logs taht day and allow him to assist in cutting the tree. Mr. Hatch was engaged in the mill business and was about forty-five years of age, a highly respected and industrious citizen and a kind neighbor. He was a member of the Baptist church and belonged to the Woodmen of the World. A wife and eight children are left to mourn his death. ------- James William Hatch was husband to Maria Lou Ervin and son of Bazzle Manley Hatch and Sarelda H. Lambert.
