Thursday, June 29, 1876

    Birdie Smith, infant daughter of J.P. and E.J. Smith, died at 4:50 A.M.,
Friday, June 23rd, Age five months and eight days.
    [Lines written on the death of Little Birdie, whi died on the morning of
the 23d June, 1876]:

    Little Birdie has flown away
       To the Celestial home above,
    Where Angels are singing sweetly,
       Anthems of joy and love.

    We will miss thee, little darling.
       How sad the hours will be
    Without our Little Birdie,
       No more her smile to see.

    Fond parents look up;
       The little spirit that was given,
    Now rests with the Saviour,
       For Birdie's in Heaven. -
