He was then 76 years of age and therefore born in 1756. He entered the service in North Carolina troops in 1776 under Captain James Elliott and Colonel Christian to fight Indians. He served later under Captain Shelby and Colonel John Sevier in the Cherokee Campaigns. He was in the battle of Long Island, under Captain John Cornack and Captain Robert Kyle. He served under Colonel Robert Allison and Colonel Isaac Shelby as a scout. He lived until after 1840 as he is listed in the 1840 Census of Revolutionary Pensioners.
