He was born in Bucks County, Pa., Sept. 29, 1746. He lived in Rockingham County, Va. when he volunteered in Virginia troops. He states that he was well acquainted with Gen. George Washington. He died in Hawkins County, Jan. 9, 1839. His widow, Letitia Roark applied for widow's pension in Hawkins County in 1840 being 93 years of age, therefore born in 1747.
