He was born March 29, 1759, in Chesterfield County, Virginia. He enlisted while living in Bedford County. Virginia, in the spring of 1779, in Captain Terrill's Company, Virginia Troops and was in the Siege of Savannah, after which he was discharged having served the time of his enlistment. He enlisted again and served in Captain Thomas McDonnell's company. He enlisted again and served in Captain Thomas Read's company, Colonel William Davis' regiment. After the Revolution he lived in Virginia and moved to Tennessee. He died in Hawkins County, May 17, 1841. He married sometime in 1792 in Grayson County, Virginia, Jane Burton. They were married by Rev. Vincent Jones, a Baptist minister. She survived her husband and in 1843 she was 78 years of age. She was born in 1765 and died in 1843.
