W. (Sam W.) Hill was the son of J. N. (James Napier) Hill. James Napier Hill was the son of John Hill whose will was signed in 1852. John Hill was one of the sons of Green Hill (Jr), who died in Williamson County, and the uncle of Rev. Richard Hill. With the exception of Green Hill, they lived in the vicinity of Hillville, Haywood County, Tennessee. Annie B. Clarke } To Deed } S. W. Hill et al } Filed Aug. 8th, 1914 } At 9 o'clock A. M. } KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That I ANNIE B. CLARKE of the county of Shelby and State of Tennessee for an in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars in the form of a promissory note bearing date with this conveyance and payable Nov., 15th 1897 executed and delivered to me by S. W. and J. N. HILL have this day bargained sold and do hereby transfer and convey unto the said S. W. and J. N. HILL of Haywood County, Tenn., the following tract or parcel of land lying and situated in civil district No. 1 of Haywood County Tennessee on the waters of Hatchie River and bounded as follows: -- Beginning at a sasfras and hickory with 2 white oak pointers on the bank of Hatchie River runs thence west 46 poles to a stake sweet gum and hickory pointers thence north 43 poles to a sweet gum and white oak pointer thence west 6 poles to a stake with beach pointers thence north 94 poles to a stake on the bank of Hatchie River white oak pointers thence up said river with its meanderings to the beginning and said to contain 87 acres be it the same more or less. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the same unto the said S. W. HILL and J. N. HILL their heirs and assigns forever and I covenant with the said S. W. HILL and J. N. HILL that I am lawfully seized and possessed of said land and have a good right to convey it and that same in unencumbered and I further bind myself, my heirs and assigns to forever warrant and defend the title to said land unto the said S. W. HILL and J. N. HILL their heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever but it is expressly understood that a lien is retained upon said land until the purchase money and any accrued interest is paid in full this the 5th day of June 1897.
