Bruce et ux } Daisie Bruce } Filed July 24, 1914 } at 10:30 o'clock A. M.} KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That we, J. H. HILL and wife M. E. HILL of Haywood County, Tenn., for an in consideration of the sum of SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS cash to us in hand paid, the receipt for which is hereby acknowledged, have this day bargained and sold and do by these presents transfer and convey unto W. H. BRUCE and wife, DAISIE BRUCE, their heirs and assigns the following described tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the 1st Civil District of Haywood County, Tenn., and thus more particular described: -- Begins at a stake, Thomas Rice's north west corner in Lucias Wilk's east boundary line runs thence north 9 ¼ poles to a stake thence west 8 poles to a stake one of Wilk's corners in the (north) of a lane; thence north with the center of said lane Wilk's east boundary line 135 poles to a stake, thence east 33 8/10 poles to a stake with two post oak pointers; thence south 144 ¼ poles to a stake with a cedar pointer in Thomas Rice's north boundary line, then with said line west 24 ½ poles to the beginning, containing 30 acres and being the western one half of a tract of land sold to RICHARD HILL by J. M. HINES by deed of date JANUARY 8th, 1874. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD said tract of land with all improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging to them the said W. H. BRUCE and wife DAISIE BRUCE their heirs and assigns forever. We covenant with the said W. H. BRUCE and wife DAISIE BRUCE their heirs and assigns that we are legally seized and possessed of said land that we have a good right to sell same and that is unencumbered. We further covenant and bind ourselves our heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said tract of land to them the said W. H. BRUCE and wife DAISIE BRUCE their heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, we have hereunto set our hands on this the 5th day of March 1914. J. H. HILL the bargainors with whom I am personally acquainted and whom acknowledged that they executed the within deed instrument for the purposes therein contained and M. E. HILL wife of the said J. H. HILL having appeared before me privately and apart from her husband the said M. E. HILL acknowledged the execution of said deed to have been done by her freely voluntarily and understandingly without compulsion or constraint from her said husband and for the purposes therein expressed.
