HILL (transcribed as spelled) File No. 9161 Stamped Accepted Soldier’s Application for Pension Under Class 1, 2, 3 or 4. I, F. P. Hill, a native of the State of Tennessee and now a citizen of Tennessee, resident at District no. 1 in the county of Haywood in said State of Tennessee, and who was a soldier from the State of Tennessee, in the war between the United States and The Confederate States, do hereby apply for aid under the Act of the General Assembly of Tennessee entitled “An Act for the benefit of the indigent and disabled soldiers of the late war between the States, and to fix he fees of attorneys or agents for procuring such pensions and fixing a penalty for the violation of same, and amendments thereto.” And I do solemnly swear that, while in the discharge of my duty in the service of the Confederate or United States as a member of Company A 9 Tennessee Regiment I was wounded in the battle or battles of Perryville Ky, at Chickamauga Georgia at Atlanta Ga or contracted the following disease or disabilities, to wit: kidney and blader trouble (Diabetes) and that by reason of such wound and disability I am now entitled to receive the benefits of this Act. I further swear that I do not hold any National, State, or County office, nor do I receive aid or pension from any other State, or from the United States, and that I am not an inmate of any soldier’s home, and that I am unable to earn a reasonable support for myself and family. I do further solemnly swear that the answers given to the following questions are true: In what County, State, and year were you born? Boyett, M. D. one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing application, and who is a physician of good standing, and being duly sworn says that he has carefully and thoroughly examined ______, the applicant, and finds him laboring under the following disabilities: I have been F. Hill No. 9161 Trustee Haywood County Brownsville, Tenn. Dear Sir, Will you kindly certify on the bottom of this sheet the acreage and assessed valuation of the property of F. P. Hill who says he lives in District 1 of Haywood County? It is wanted as proof in a pension case. Please also give me his post office address. Yours truly, Frank A. Moses Special Examiner F. P. Hill has in Dist. No. 1 of Haywood County 105 acres of land valued at $500. Resp, J W McCleish(?) Trustee The tax values are about 2/3 of real value WAR DEPARTMENT The Adjutant General’s Office Washington, July 9, 1907 Respectfully returned to the President, Tennessee Board of Pension Examiners, Nashville. It is shown by the records of this office that F. P. Hill, private, Company A, 9th Tennessee Infantry, C.S.A. was enlisted on May 24, 1861, at Jackson. On the company muster roll for January and February, 1864, the last roll on file, he is reported “Absent on furlough, wounded Aug. 25, 1864.” Other records show that on September 9, 1864, he received his monthly pay at Griffin, Georgia. No later record has been found. Unreadable Signature The Adjutant General. (handwritten letter) Thomas Rice and old confed solgier 74 years old a comrade of F. P. Hill and was with him at Perryvill Ky and States on oath that F. P. Hill was wounded by canister shot and came very near killing in left sid and all so state he was with him at Atlanta Georgia on in Right side and was discharged and work his way home Thomas Ric was with Waggon Trane when F.
