HENDERSON COUNTY, TN - CEMETERIES - Central Grove Cemetery ========================================================================= David Donahue, the creator of this file, declares it to be in the public domain. ========================================================================= CENTRAL GROVE CEMETERY Henderson County, Tennessee This cemetery is located at Central Grove Missionary Baptist Church about three miles north of Chesterfield. The cemetery is well maintained, but is suffers from a fad for grave decoration. The most recent fad seems to be to build a cement block or concrete wall around the grave and cover it the grave with white sand or white gravel. Such graves tend to look unsightly if not meticulously maintained and they must be a nightmare for whoever cuts the grass. A number of these graves which lacked permanent markers in 1991 had them by 2001. Still there are many marked but unidentified graves here, and many unmarked graves. David Donahue recorded thic cemetery February 11, 1991; checked and updated it April 19, 2001; and updated in October 19, 2003. Joyce and Jeff Reeves recorded the cemetery circa 1974. Their record appears in Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Inscriptions (R. H. Harris, Memphis, 1976), Vol. II, pp. 276-280. This earlier work is referred to as "Reeves" in the notes below.
