HENDERSON COUNTY, TN - CEMETERIES - Mazies Chapel Cemetery ========================================================================= David Donahue, the creator of this file, declares it to be in the public domain. ========================================================================= MAZIES CHAPEL CEMETERY Henderson County, Tennessee This cemetery is located at Mazies Chapel Baptist Church northeast of Lexington and just outside the boundary of Natchez Trace State Park. The cemetery was established in the 1920s. The cemetery has fallen victim to a fad for grave decoration. Many graves are decorated with labor-intensive, hard-to-maintain raised beds, raised borders, and decorative garden gravel or white sand covers. Sadly, many graves without permanent markers are highly decorated. This cemetery was recorded April 17, 1998 and was checked and updated February 4, 2002. Jerry Johnson recorded the cemetery circa 1976. His record appears in Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Inscriptions (Memphis: R. H. Harris, 1976), pp. 207-208.
