Nash, ******************************************************************************** The land transaction below from R. D. Billingsley to J. F. Alexander was transcribed from a copy of the actual deed recorded in Deed Book Vol 12, p 356, and on microfilm in the G. W. Rhea Library Genealogy Room: Notes: (1) R. D. Billingsley both witnessed James F. Alexander's State of TN Soldier's Application for Pension (S 82) and swore to the statement along with R. G. Goldsby that they "remember that he [JFA] was with us at Shiloh and that sometime in May afterwords that he and others were sent to Jackson Tenn for recuperation or nurse work. He is now unable to work and has no means of support." (2) R. D. Billingsley also signed a petition included in Joseph W. Douglas's second State of TN Soldier's Application for Pension File (1911) supporting his request for a pension (1916), along with several other neighbors: R. C. Perry, E. J. Perry, C. M. Milam, Arzo Rigsby, P. E. Edwards, J. E. Phelps, H. W. Pillow, R. D. Billingsley. (3) There are several typos in the typed original, including R. D. Billingsley's name within the document itself; I've kept the spelling but eliminated spacing errors. (4) This deed, the purchase deed, shows the E/W measures as E 80 1/4 & W 81 1/4; the sale deed, shows the E/W measures E 80 1/4 & W 80 1/4; with the number of typos, the measures should probably be E 80 1/4 & W 80 1/4.
