Through Jesus Christ my lord, and now my Earthly property that my God hath given me, I wish to dispose of in the following manner- Second, what just debts I owe I want money collected. If not in hand and pay as soon as possible. Third, I want my beloved wife CELIA, to have the interest of one thousand dollars during her life hich is to come out of my estate when the property is sold. If not in hand or in bonds and the said money to remain in the hands of said executors, and for them to furnish her with the interest as she may want it. And to have her choice of either of my negro girls that she may think proper to make choice of to wait on her life and to have one bed and furniture and to have her choice of that, and after her death to return to my children which I will name hereafter. Fourth, it is my will and desire to give unto FRANCES WEBB who calls me uncle 300 dollars. Fifth, it is my will and desire to give my son JESSE W. BOWDEN 900 dollars in addition to what I have given him heretofore which is all I intend to give my above named son Jesse W.Bowden Sixth, It is my will and my desire that the balance of my estate shall be sold and equally divided amongst the balance of my children to wit: FRANCES GAY, DEMPSEY BOWDEN, THOMAS BOWDEN, HOLLAND BOWDEN, though dead, her husband JOHN OLIVE to have the part that would have fell to her to dispose of as he may think proper as one of my legatees, MARGARET W. GWINN, JACKIE L. HOWARD, BENJAMIN T. BOWDEN and as my daughter MARY VEASEY has had her equal share the rest of my children heretofore and now married the second time I cut her off as one of my heirs by giving that would have fell to her I give it to her children to wit: JACKIE MEMPHIS, ROBERT VEASEY, WILLIAM VEASEY, JANE CARTER, THOMAS VEASEY and MAY VEASEY 250 dollars. Seventh, Be it understood that the part that will fall to my daughter FRANCES GAY to remain in the hands of the executors and her to have the interest money during her life after her death to be equally divided among her children to wit: ELIZA JACKSON, ALFRED GAY, MARY GAY, MARTHA GAY, ELBERT GAY, THOMAS GAY, JANE GAY, WILLIAM GAY, and MARIAN GAY. Eighth, It is my will and desire that my servant PRISSY to be at liberty to work for herself though to be under the control of my executors and should she become unable to support herself it is my will that each of my legatees help to support her. Ninth, It is my desire that my sons DEMPSEY BOWDEN, THOMAS BOWDEN and BENJAMIN T. BOWDEN execute this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand an fixed my seal this the eighth day of November 1842.
