L. Hassell Rites To Be Held Today Edward Lion Hassell, 75, retired Waverly farmer, died at 3:45 o’clock yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harley Hulick, of 1001 McFerrin Avenue, following a three ‘weeks’ illness. Funeral services will be conducted there at 3 o’clock this afternoon, and burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Son of the late Joseph and Arie Hassell, he was born and reared near Centerville. He was married there to the former Miss Laura Belle Whitson, who died in 1928. Mr. Hassell operated a farm near Centerville until he was 40 years old when he moved to Waverly. He was engaged there in farming until his retirement 10 years ago, at which time he came to live with his daughter, Mrs. Hulick. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Besides Mrs. Hulick, he is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Glenn Osborn of Wartrace, and Mrs. Neil Thompson of Los Angeles, Cal.; four sons, Eugene Hassell and John Hassell of Indianapolis, Ind.; Stanley Hassell of Jackson, and Russell Hassell of Erie, PA.; a sister, Mrs. Frank Nicks of Royal Oaks, Mich.; a brother, Tom Hassell of Cleveland, Ohio; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.
