Joseph Leon King 

1919-2007 

Funeral services for Joseph Leon King, of Waverly, age 88, were held Wednesday,

Oct. 17 at Humphreys Co. Funeral Home with Jeff Keele officiating. Burial

followed in Wyly Cemetery. Humphreys Co. Funeral Home was in charge of

arrangements. 

Mr. King passed away Sunday, Oct. 14. He was born May 11, 1919 in Humphreys Co.

to the late Morris M. King and Susan Pearl Forrest King. He was a WW II Air

Force Veteran, a member of the 101st Airborne 416th squadron of Night Fighter

Pilots and a member of Waverly Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he

was preceded in death by a son, Donald Ray King and a grandson, Mitchell Leon King.


He is survived by his wife, Madge Ruth Norris King of Waverly; two sons, Joseph

Jay (Sharon) King of St. Louis, Mo. and Richard Shay King of Mt. Juliet; two

daughters, Susan Kaye (Scott) Goodman of Waverly and Lisa Gaye King of

Springville; a sister, Evonne Bone; a brother, James King both of Waverly; nine

grandchildren, Kendall Emmert, Heather King, McKenzie King, Carson King, Aprille

Goodman, Lance Goodman, Hunter Morris, Joey Spence and Jayden Bryant.
