On the farm of 271 1/4 acres that Christopher Bullard sold to Clayton Rogers for $1271 in 1808. (Only 16 acres are left of this farm. The rest was taken over by the Corp of Engineers when the Cordell Hull Dam was built.) This land has been owned by the descendants of Clayton Rogers since that time. Now owned by Mrs. Charles Sadler. Clayton Rogers was a Revolutionary Soldier in York County, South Caroline before moving to Tennessee. His tombstone was broken between 6/1/00 and 6/1/01. It is now wired together. Brown 7/20/1858 3/28/1884 Richard Vance Brooks (Death Certificate list Richard Vance Brooks born 11/21/1842 and died 4/20/1917 with burial at Brooks Burial Place. Thomas J. Brown was the first husband of Molly E. Richardson and Richard Vance Brooks was her second husband. They lived on the corner of Highway 85 and Bullard’s Creek Road. Vance Brooks was a good friend of Lee and Henry Sadler.) The house was later the house of Laura B. and Alonzo McCawley. This three people are buried near the center of the cemetery and come from Maude McGlasson WPA cemetery indexing) William H. (Will) Brooks (son of R. Vance Brooks born 1864, died 5/17/1900. He was 36 yrs, 5 mo. and 14 days old. 500 people attended his funeral , burial at family burial place -from JC Sentinel) Mary Belle Holland Brooks (wife of Will Brooks and James Hackett, daughter of Lon T Holland, was born Nov. 1867 according to 1900 census and died 6/26/1919. Brooks 4/10/1891 7/8/1891 William Henry Mathews 8/4/ 1888 7/19/1948 ( William Henry Mathews was a neighbor in the community. He has a small concrete plaque with his name and death written in. The birth date was supplied by his daughter) Lester Mathews Vester Mathews (Twin stillborn sons of William Henry and Wilie Mathews died between 1916-1918. This info came from the daughter of William Henry Mathews, Dorothy Matthews Green.) Dimple Roberts 1911 1920 Sam Roberts 1910 1915 Cordell Roberts 1905 Dora Roberts abt. 1901 1/12/1916 (The parents of these children were possibly Henry and Rebecca Roberts who were neighbors of Lee Sadler) There are 17 small tombstone that do not have names on them. They are all in a row, the same size and shape as the one of Clayton Rogers Scanland.
