Kenneth M Kellar United States Senate In re: Jeremiah Brown - War of Revolution W. 27542 You are adviced that from the papers in the above noted pension claim it appears that Jeremiah Brown was born near Shallow Ford on the Yadkin river, North Caro- lina, May 6, 1759. He enlisted in 1780 in Wilkes County, North Caro- lina as a private and served three months in Captain Clark's company, colonel, Cleveland's Regiment. Was in the battle of Gates'Defeat. During this tour his father, name not stated, moved to Burke County, North Carolina from which place, at the expiration of above tour, sol- dier enlisted for six months in Captain Patrick Kerr's Company, Colonel Doolin's Regiment. Was at the battle of Cane Creek and at the Siege of Augusta. After the Revolution he moved to Wilkes County, Georgia and from there to Tennessee. He was allowed pension on his application executed September 15, 1834 while a resident of Jackson County, Tennessee, Post Office Gainesboro. He died November 10, 1859 in Jackson County, Tennessee. He married Elizabeth Floyd, date of marriage not stated, who died previous to 1800. It is not stated whether there were any children by this marriage. In 1800 in Powell's Valley, East Tennessee he mar- ried Jane Franklin who was allowed pension on her appli- cation executed December 2, 1870 while a resident of Jackson County, Tennessee aged ninety-six years, She was still living in 1874. There were five children by this second marriage, three of which were dead in 1874. Edmond died after the Civil War aged sixty years; Barbry and William died young. John aged fifty-six years and James aged fifty-four, the youngest, were living in Jackson County, Tennessee in 1874. The latter "had a family" at that time, no names stated.
