N B Waddle is a candidate for tax assessor for the 1st civil district. He is so badly crippled that he can do no physical labor, and is well qualified to discharge the duties of the position. A passenger train now leaves Cookeville at 5 o'clock in the morning and arrives at Nashville at 8:30. Returning, leaves Nashville at 4:25 in the afternoon and arrives at Cookeville at 8:17. We are requested by Chairman J W Stafford to say the republicans of this county will meet here in mass convention, Monday, July 10, 1900, to select delegates to their Congressional and Senatorial conventions. It is very probable that the Democratic Executive Committee in this county will order a primary election to select a candidate for Representative. At least, this seems to be the drift of public sentiment on the subject so far as we have been able to hear. ******************************************** JUNE MARRIAGES County Clerk Naylor issued the following marriages licenses during the month of June.
