Our order was placed too late to receive some for this week. ********** The Harley will passdown this morning Rice Maxey, of Celina, was in Gainesboro Sunday. Dan Brummet has moved to the Kirby residence. Mrs. W W Robinson is visiting in Nashville this week. Mrs. Nan Cox of Sparta, is visiting at J T Anderson's. T B Murray spent a few days in Nashville the past week. The new lock boxes are being put in the post office today. A new sidewalk is being put down in front of Young's grocery house. J. B. Walker has moved to the residence vacated by Horace G Young. Aubery and Perry Dale and sister, Miss Mona, went to Livingston Monday. Masters Carl and Clarence, little sons of Andrew Morgan, are quite sick with fever. G. B. Murray of this place, and W I Kittrell, of Whitleyville, went to Nashville Monday. Rev. J. L. Smothermon will preach at the M. E. Church next Sunday morning and evening. A J Arendell went to Cookeville Tuesday to spend a few days with his mother at that place. James Washburn, a coming young Nimrod of this place, killed a large red fox last week in Brook's bottom. Remember we are to have a picture of some prominent citizen every wekk. How do you like that idea? The large drug establishment of the Spurlock-Neal Co., Nashville was partially destroyed by fire Monday morning. Kenner Dudney received serious injuries while attempting to bridle a vicious mule yesterday. Two or three of his ribs were broken and he may have sustained internal injuries. Andrew Arendell and Scipio Young, who were recently honorably discharged from the First Tennessee Regiment at San Franciso, returned to this place last Thursday afternoon on the steamer Dudley. Mr. Young is the picutre of perfect health and vigor, but Mr. Arendell's many friends will be sorry to learn he has been considerably indisposed for several weeks. However, he is rapidly regaining his strength. We are glad to welcome the young men back. ****************************************** H H Spivey, a well known citizen of Spivey, Clay county, died suddenly last Sunday. *********************************** Attorneys G. B Murray and John J Gore returned home last Thursday night from an extended trip through seven or eight counties on legal business. ************************************ CHANCERY COURT LAND SALE The Bank of Gainesboro vs Wm York et als. In pursuance of a decree rengered in the above cause at the Sept term, 1898, of the Chancery court of Jackson Co, Tenn. entered on minute docket on page 102, of said Chancery Court, which decree orders the lands described in the pleadings and decree to be sold to satisfy the debt, interest and costs herein accrued. I will on Saturday, December 61, 1898, at the court house door in Gainesboro, Tenn., sell said lands so described, which lands lie in Dist no 13 Jackson co Tenn., on the West side of Cumberland river, known as the V. C. Lee lands, the same on which said Lee lived and died. On this occasion they were given entire possession of the hospitable home of Esq. N. B. Young and wife. It was pronounced a delightful and long to be remembered affair. Cason was bornon Cumberland River, this county, November 1, 1846. He has been a citizen of Gainesboro, engaged in the mercantile business, for many years. He is a member of the firm of Washburn and Cason. He was married May 18, 1876, to Miss Maggie Hawes, and they have two children, Joseph Cason and Mrs. Blanche Naylor. Mr. Cason is an applicant for Warden of the main prison at Nashville, and his prospects are considered very flattering. He has never held office, but has been a life long worker for the principles of Democracy. *********************************************
