At the age of nine he came to Tennessee with his father and mother and settled on the borders of the Cumberland River in Jackson County. At the age of twenty one he was happily married to Miss. Eliza Rauley who left him fot the spirit world about ten years ago. Eight children, 6 sons and 2 daughters, survive. After an eventful journey of 88 years of sunshine and shadow the old pilgrim pillowed his head quietly upon his burdens May 2, 1904 and went to sleep from which none ever wake to weep.
