Minchey Layton C. Minchey was born in Jackson County August 6, 1869 and died at his home in the 3rd District of this County at 9 A.M. Saturday July 23, 1938, having reached the age of sixty-eight years, eleven months and seventeen days. On Nov 17, 1889, he married Miss Jose Richardson. To this union were born eleven children, nine of whom survive. Also twenty-two grandchildren, one great grandchild, two brothers, two sisters, and many other relatives and friends mourn his death. His wife and children who survive are as follows: Mrs. Jose Minchey, Baxter H. Minchey, Cavannaugh Minchey, Mrs. Eula Brown, Tom Minchey, Oscar Minchey, Ernest Minchey, Mrs. Louvella Brown, Mrs Chester Draper, and Edward Minchey. He had been a member of the Church of Christ for twenty-five years. He bore his long suffering with the fortitude of a true Christian. His last hours were filled with expressions of brotherly love for his friends and neighbors. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Gaither at the home of the deceased at 9 A.M. Sunday, Jul 24, 1938. Internment was at the Draper Cemetery at Beech Grove.
