Jones of Rt. 3, Gainesboro, Thursday, Apr. 18, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Comer McGuire and James Anderson officiated at the ceremony and burial at New Salem Cemetery. Mr. Jones, 90, died April 16 at Jackson County Hospital after an extended illness. A retired farmer, he was a native of Jackson County and a member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by one son, Johnie Jones of Gainesboro; one daughter, Sarah Jane Brown of Gainesboro; two brothers, Tom Jones of Gainesboro, and Herman Jones of Gainesboro;11 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The J C Times, May 3, 1974 Johnnie Clay Jones, 43 Services for Johnnie Clay Jones, 43, Baxter, the husband of Selma Maxwell Jones, were conducted April 27 from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Bro. James Paul Anderson was the officiating minister. Mr. Jones died unexpectedly at his home April 24, 1974. He was born in Jackson County on Nov. 18, 1930 and was a lifetime resident of Baxter. He was the son of Bedford Jones and Virgie Brown. His survivors include a grandparent, Mrs. Leona Brown, two sons, Jeffrey Jones, Baxter and Robert E Jones, four brothers, Charlie, Brownlin, and Bobby of Gainesboro, and Ray Oliver of Cookeville, and one sister, Mrs. Janie Hall of Gainesboro. Burial was in the John L Clark Cemetery with the Anderson Funeral Home taking charge of the arrangements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Jackson County Times, Sept. 28, 1977 Mrs. Virgie Brown Jones Funeral services for Mrs. Virgie Brown Jones, 73, were conducted from the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. with Bro. James Paul Anderson officiating. Burial was in John L Clark Cemetery. Mrs. Jones died Sept. 20 at Jackson County Hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Jackson County and the daughter of the late Mark and Leona Spurlock Brown. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Brown, Jr. Funeral services for J.T. Brown, Jr., 54 of the New Salem community in Jackson County were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Bro. Bill Hunter officiating. Interment was in the New Salem Cemetery. Mr. Brown passed away Tuesday, June 1, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville following a brief illness. He was an employee of the Ford glass plant. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late J.T. Brown, Sr. and Arizonia Haile Brown and a member of the Church of Christ. Juliet were conducted Wednesday, June 23, at 3:30 p.m. from the Lave Funeral Home in Lebanon with Bro. James Paul Anderson and Bro. Mike Vaughn officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Mr. Brown passed away Monday, June 21. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eula Flatt Brown; one son, Ernest Brown; two sisters, Ethel Craig, Gainesboro and Edith Flatt, Old Hickory; two brothers, Ben and Tommy Brown, both of Gainesboro and three grandchildren. Nave Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of the arrangement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jackson County Times, Thursday, November 11, 1982 LOCAL MAN DIES IN HOUSE TRAILER A Jackson County man died Saturday night in a fire that completely destroyed the house trailer where he lived in the Tanyard Branch section just north of Gainesboro. Officials said the body of Willis "Little Red" Rhoten, 45, was found inside the home after the Gainesboro Fire Department had fought the blaze for about two hours. The fire may have been caused by a wood heating stove which was reported found open when firefighters were able to enter the premises. Services for Rhoten were held Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home and burial was in John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Martha Lou Mahaney Rhoten of Gainesboro; two brothers, John Rhoten of Detroit, Michigan and Billy Rhoten of Gainesboro and three sisters, Mrs. Doris Stafford of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Rosa Heroth of Tullahoma and Mrs. Daffo Gilpatrick of Gainesboro. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Jackson County Times, Thursday, January 13, 1983 MRS. MARTHA MAHANEY RHOTEN Funeral services were held for Mrs. Martha Mahaney Rhoten, age 85, of Gainesboro, from the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home Wednesday, January 12, 1983, at 11 a.m. with Brother James Paul Anderson officiating. The wife of the late Mr. Carlos Rhoten, she died Sunday, January 9, 1983, at the Theo Spivey Rest Home after a brief illness. She was born December 15, 1897, in Jackson County to the late Lum and Sara Harper Mahaney. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include 2 sons, Billy Rhoten of Gainesboro, Tn., and John Rhoten of Detroit, Michigan; 3 daughters, Mrs. Doris Stafford of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Rosa Herath of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Mrs. Daffo Gilpatrick of Gainesboro, Tn. He was the husband of Mrs. Margie Anna Mayberry, who passed away October 3, 1958. A resident of the New Salem Community of Jackson County, he died Sunday, November 13, 1983, at his residence. He was born November 18, 1907, in Jackson County, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brown. He was a retired farmer, and a member of the New Salem Church of Christ in Jackson County.
