The wife of the late Mr. Robert Lee (Bob) Hopkins, who passed away September, 1979, she was a resident of the Shiloh Community of Jackson County. She was born May 14. 1901, in Jackson County, Tenn., to the late William and Margaret Gibson Allen. A homemaker, she was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Jackson County. Funeral services were held for Mrs. Hopkins Friday, November 25, 1983, at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home with Brother Guy Farris officiating. Survivors include 4 sons, Marion Hopkins, Cookeville, Tenn., Charles Hopkins, Joe R Hopkins, and Louis Morgan Hopkins of Gainesboro, Tenn.; 1 daughter, Mrs. Betty Brown of Cookeville, Tenn.; 1 brother, Donald E Allen of Gainesboro, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Anderson Funeral Home of Gainesboro, Tenn. was in charge of the arrangements with burial in the Allen Town Cemetery in Jackson County. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jackson County Times, December 1, 1983 Mrs. Aline Martin Chaffin Funeral services were held for Mrs. Aline Martin Chaffin, age 59, from the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro, Friday, November 25, 1983, at 10 a.m. with Brother James Paul Anderson and Brother Jerry Young officiating. A resident of the McCoinsville Community of Jackson County, she died Tuesday night, November 22, 1983, at the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville after an extended illness. She was born August 25, 1924, in Jackson County, to the late Lewis and Mary Bell Mayberry Martin. A housewife, she was a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ in Jackson County. Survivors include her husband, Mr. Zeb Young Chaffin, of Gainesboro, Tenn.; 2 sons, Robert Chaffin and Kennie Chaffin, both of Gainesboro, Tenn.;5 daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Evelyn) Keith of McMinnville, Tenn., Miss Irene Chaffin, Mrs. Juanita Heron and Miss Mary Chaffin all of Gainesboro, Tenn., and Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Hopkins of Cookeville, Tenn.; 3 brothers, Hollis Martin, Lewis Martin, Jr., and Billy Herman Martin all of Gainesboro, Tenn.; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lois Spurlock and Mrs. Reba Hopkins both of Gainesboro, Tenn., and Mrs. Mary Milton of Cookeville, Tenn.; 6 grandchildren also survive. David Shriver and Bro. Donald Bryant officiating. Interment was in the Pigg Family Cemetery in the Fairview Community. Mrs. Pigg passed away Thursday, February 16, at the Jackson County Hospital. She was a housewife. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late William and Frances Brown Young and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Charlie L. Pigg, Gainesboro; one son, Herbert Willard Pigg, Bellbrook, Ohio; two daughers, Mrs. Joyce Ann Thomason and Mrs. Jill Jenkins, both of Gainesboro; four brothers, Fred Young and Clyde Young, both of Cookeville, Donald A Young, and Edd Tom Young both of Gainesboro; eight grandchildren, Julie, Jenny, Herbert, Jr. and Tonya Pigg, and Renea, John, Connie, and Jason Thomason; and one great-grandchild, Shawn Bradly Davis. Interment was in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Mathis passed away Wednesday, September 12, at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, Ind. She was a homemaker. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of Mrs. Wilie T Hopkins Dennis of Gainesboro and Mr. Henry B. Dennis who passed away in 1973 and a former resident of Jackson County. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Mathis, who passed away February 19. 1978. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include four brothers, Baugh Dennis, Lewis Dennis and Ray Dennis, all of Gainesboro, and John L Dennis of Nashville, and two sisters, Mrs. Betty Flatt and Mrs. Thelma McBride, both of Gainesboro. Interment was in the Granville Cemetery in Jackson County. Mrs. Burgess passed away Wednesday, January 28, in Baptist Hospital in Nashville. She was a seamstress. Born November 10, 1910 in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Marlin S and Mattie Meadows Kirby and the widow of Donald Burgess who passed away in 1940. She was a member of the Gainesboro Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, whe was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Kirby. Survivors include one son, Charles S Burgess, Gainesboro; three granchildren, Mrs. Kimberly Brown, Miss Michelle Burgess, and Charles Burgess, Jr., all of Gainesboro; one great-grandchild, Lindsey Brown, Gainesboro; one brother, Joe Kirby, Detroit, Mich.; and two sisters, Mrs. Effie Carter, Gainesboro and Mrs. Rena Fuqua, Cookeville. Interment was in the Mahaney Cemetery. Mr. Allen passed away Thursday, February 5, in Masters Health Care Center in Algood. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Walter C. and Emma Jane Henson Allen, a laborer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Collegeside Church of Christ. Stafford Funeral services for Mrs. Ollie D. Stafford, 93, of Route 2, Gainesboro, were conducted Monday, December 14, at 11:00 a.m. in the Fairview Free Methodist Church with Bro. Kenneth Luck officiating. Interment was in the Scott Cemetery. Mrs. Stafford passed away Friday morning, December 11, at her residence in the Fairview community. She was a homemaker. Born June 5. 1894 in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Marion Thomas and Anna Elizabeth Johnson Brown and a member of the Fairview Free Methodist Church. Her husband, Marion F. Stafford, passed away May 18. 1981. Survivors include three sons, Grover Cecil Stafford, Gainesboro; Ones (Jack) Stafford, Detroit, Mich. and John W. Stafford, Gallatin; six daughters, Dora L. Petty, Gainesboro; Mildred Hooten and Mary Annette Ledbetter, both of Livingston; Janie J. Scott, Westmoreland; Zelma Loue Edmonds, Detroit, Michigan, and Juanita Livingston, Portland; one brother, Harvie Brown, Gainesboro; three sisters, Mary Young, Cookeville; Sarah Jane Brown and Carrie Pruett, both of Gainesboro; 40 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Joe Britt officiating. Interment was in the John L Clark Cemetery. Mr. Jones passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack Wednesday night, November 16, at the Jackson County Hospital. He wa a resident of the Center Grove Community and an employee of Anderson Funeral Home. Mr. Jones was the former owner of B & M Grocery, now Anderson Market, in the McCoinsville community, and was a veteran of the United States Army. Born January 22, 1938 in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Bedford E. and Virgie Brown Jones. Survivors include his wife, Margie Gentry Jones, Center Grove; two sons, Garry W. and Barry Jones, both of Gainesboro; three brothers, Charlie and Bobby Jones, both of Gainesboro, and Ray Oliver Jones of Cookeville; and one grandson, Dustin Jones of Gainesboro. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Mark Jones and Johnnie Clay Jones, and one sister, Mrs. Janie Hall. Serving as pallbearers were John Cason, Joe D. Barlow, Glyn Poindexter, Roger Ward, Garry Anderson, and John D Sisco. Doyle Brown Wilmoth officiating. Interment was in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County. Mrs. Young passed away Saturday, May 6, in the Cookeville Manor Nursing Home. She was a homemaker. Born October 10, 1896 in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Anna Johnson Brown and a member of the McBroom's Chapel Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis M. Young, who passed away in 1973.
