HAMPTON THOMAS PATE Born January 24, 1870, departed this life March 15, 1960, age 90 years, 1 month and 21 days. He was married to LULA RICHARDSON Dec 21, 1898, who preceded him in death July of 1906. To this union was born one son, JOHN HENRY PATE, who survives. He later married BURNETTIE MORELAND on Aug 21, 1910. She departed this life Sep 20, 1957. To them was born one daughter, MRS. EFFIE LEE WOODARD, who also survives. Other survivors include two grandchildren and Four gr-grandchildren, with a number of relatives and friends. Mr Pate professed faith in Christ early in life and united with the Wartrace Methodist Church and remained faithful so long as health permitted. He also served as a steward in his church for many years, he was active in church work and taught many singing schools as well as teaching in public schools. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wartrace Methodist Church by Rev. Sammy Cherry, assisted by Rev. Crouch. Burial was in the family cemetery. Draper & Naff Funeral Home in charge. BERNETTIE FLORENCE PATE Aged nearly 79 years, died on Sept 20, 1957, after many months of ill health at her home on Salt Lick, Jackson Co. She is survived by her husband, HENRY T PATE, a farmer; one daughter, MISS EFFIE LEE PATE, who resides with her Father; a stepson, JOHN HENRY PATE; and a niece, MRS. BEULAH KING, of Texas. Funeral services were held by Elder Ted Smith. The deceased became a member of Gladdice Baptist Church years ago and remained identified therewith until death. She was a good woman, Loved and highly esteemed by all who knew her. FLORENCE GOODPASTURE PATE Widow of the late EDWARD PATE, of Whites Bend, died Feb 19th at the home of her nephew, RAY GOODPASTURE, in Overton Co, at the age of 84. She was born March 14, 1871. After her marriage to Mr. Pate she had lived in Whites Bend until his death. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors are a step-son, FRANK PATE, of Huntington Beach, CA; six nephews, B C GOODPASTURE, Nashville, RAY GOODPASTURE, FRANCIS GOODPASTURE, OREN GOODPASTURE, Livingston, Route 4; BILL GOODPASTURE, Anderson, IN and ELMER GOODPASTURE, Dayton, OH; ten nieces, MRS CARRIE CARR, Livingston, Route 5, MRS LYDIA GORE, MRS. MILDRED CARMACK, MRS. WINNIE ALLRED, MRS. OVA BILYUE, Livingston, Route 4, MRS. JENNIE HOWARD,Hunterville, AL, MRS LOLA GILENTINE, Scottsville, KY, MRS. JEAN VAUGHN, Henderson, IN, MRS. DORA LYNN, Scottsville, KY, and MRS. FLORENCE SMITH, Dayton, OH. Funeral services were conducted from the Gainesboro Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Robert Manasco, of Livingston. Burial in Draper Memorial Cemetery. Draper & Naff Funeral Home in charge. M E PATE Died Wednesday (Jan 31, 1940). M E (ED) PATE, 74, prominent farmer of White Bend, died at his home Wednesday morning, following a few days illness with heart trouble and complications. MR. PATE was one of the outstanding farmers in his community and had successfully conducted his farming operations through the years. He attained special success in raising watermelons and his product was always in demand during the season. In other lines of farming he was also successful. Mr. Pate took an active part in public affairs and his counselwas sought on many matters by his neighbors. He was an active member of the Church of Christ. He was married to MISS CLARRISSA ROGERS in young manhood, but after a few years in 1901 she died leaving one child, FRANK A PATE. A few years later Mr. Pate was married to MISS FLORENCE GOODPASTURE, who survives him. Besides his wife and son, FRANK PATE, he is survived by four sisters, MRS. VIOLA KIRKPATRICK, MRS. LIZZIE BURGESS, MRS. EVA SPEAKMAN and MRS. LEONA JACKSON, of Texas; two brothers, LEE PATE, of Florida and WALTER PATE, of Oklahoma, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted this morning at 10 o'clock from the Gainesboro Church of Christ by Eld. A R HILL, of Shelbyville, assisted by Eld. C E SCOTT, local minister. Burial in the Johnson Cemetery.
