From scrap book of obituaries owned by Mrs. Effie Woodard, Rt 2, Pleasant Shade, TN (Copied 1977) MRS. MARGARET PATE Native of Jackson Co, died in McAlester, OK. News has reached here of the death of MRS. MARGARET PATE, which occurred at her home in McAlester, OK, Saturday afternoon Jan 17th, at three o'clock following a shore illness. Mrs. Pate was formerly of this county, having lived and reared a large family on a farm about two miles north of Flynn's Lick, in the 11th district of the county. She was the widow of DON PATE who preceded her to the grave about 18 years ago. She was a splendid Christian woman, and numbered her friends by her acquaintances. Some twenty two years ago, she moved to Oklahoma to reside, but like most people, she always had a warm place in her heart for her old home place, and during these twenty odd years she made many visits back home. She was never happier than when she met with her old friends and acquaintances and had a long chat about the days gone by. She is survived by four sons, ALBERT PATE of Cookeville, TN, EDWARD PATE of Gainesboro, TN, Rt 4; LEE S PATE of Murfreesboro, TN; and WALTER PATE of Milton, OK; four daughters, MRS. LIZZIE BURGESS, MRS. EVIE SPEAKMAN, of McAlester, OK, MRS. SAM JACKSON, Ada, OK, and MRS. VIOLA KIRKPATRICK, Ft Worth, TX. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren and scores of relatives and friends. Following religious services the remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the McAlester Cemetery. Those of her children present were, MRS. BURGESS, MRS. SPEAKMAN, MRS. KIRKPATRICK and WALTER and LEE PATE. FLAVY L PATE Of 3144 Wabash, Fort Worth, TX, funeral services were held Saturday, Jan 21 at 1:30 p.m. In Harveson & Cole Drawing Room. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Texas. Mr. Pate died in a Texas hospital, Thursday, Jan 19 following a brief illness. He was 66 years old. A native of Jackson Co, he was the son of the late S L and EUDORA LANSDEN PATE. He was married to the former DOROTHY STRODE who survives. Mr. Pate spent most of his young life here in Jackson Co, working as a traveling salesman. He later moved to Texas where he became owner and founder of Lincoln Products Co. He was a member of Matthews Memorial Methodist Church and Hemphill Heights Masonic Lodge, F&AM. He had made his home in Texas for 25 years. Survivors in addition to his wife, are one daughter, MRS. BETSY SMITH of Fort Worth; two grandchildren; one brother, I B PATE, Gainesboro; one sister, MRS. ENNIS WILLIAMS of Forth Worth; two nieces, MRS. POLLY PATE DUFF of Nashville and MRS. ANN PATE HOPKINS of Gainesboro. Mr. Pate was the Uncle of MRS. EDGAR FLOORE, DR. CHARLES HARGIS, A M PATE, JR and SEIBERT PATE, all of Forth Worth, and JOE C HARGIS of Long Beach, CA. SEBERT L PATE (1948) Gainesboro, TN. Funeral services will be conducted this afternon for SEBERT L PATE, 86, who died Friday night in his sleep of a heart attack at his home in Gainesboro. Services will be at 1 p.m. at the Gainesboro Methodist Church and the Rev. CALVIN KELLY will officiate. Burial will be in the Gainesboro Cemetery. Mr. Pte was a retired grocereyman and had been serving as recorder for the town of Gainesboro for the past 30 years. Survivors include his widow, MRS. MATTIE PATE, two sons and a daughter.
