The large concourse of people who attended the services was indicative of the esteem in which he was held by his neighbors and friends. MRS. OLLIE PATE CLARK (32A.9.1.1.3) Many hearts will be sad to learn of the death of Mrs OLLIE PATE CLARK which occurred at her home in the fifth civil district of Smith County, near Bagdad, Jackson Co, on March 16, 1932. She had been an invalid for a number of years but always seemed to bear her suffering with much patience. She seemed to grieve more because she was unable to attend church. She was born into the family of WALTER and SUSAN PATE, March 19, 1859, lacking only three days being seventy-three years old when God called her home. She was married to Bro H C CLARK, Oct 1, 1884. To this union were born four children, three sons, VESTIL, GARLAND and OMER and one daughter, OPAL. Sister Clark was born into the family of God in Oct 1879 and was faithful In her duty, so far as she was able, both to God and her fellow man until the end. She seemed to realize "It is more blessed to give than to receive" and many lives have been helped and made better by her practicing this in her daily life. To know her was to love her more. For some time she had expected God's call to go home, but said she supposed there was still some work for her here, so she waited ever expecting the call. Often when friends were leaving her hoping to again see her in her room, she would say, "Goodby, if we never meet again here, we'll meet up yonder." She would talk so sweetly about dying, saying she was ready, feeling assured of a happy reunion with her only daughter, MRS A C WHITEFIELD, whose death preceded her own twelve years and twelve days. She deeply felt the loss of her daughter all through these years and this thought that they would meet again to spend eternity in the home prepared for the faithful, lessened the pain of leaving her loved ones behind. She leaves a sad and lonely husband, he died 1940, three sons and seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss, but "we sorrow not as those who have no hope." Truly "a mother in Israel" has gone to her reward. She will be greatly missed not only in her home where all seemed so kind and devoted to Mother, but the community had a great loss in her death, and last but not least, the church has lost one of its oldest and best workers. She had not been able to attend church for several years but was always glad to see and talk with her friends admonishing them to live faithful in Christ Jesus. Though she is gone her influence will be felt for years to come. Her funeral was conducted by Bro JOHN W FOX at her home on March 17, 1932, and her body was then tenderly and lovingly laid in the family cemetery to await the second coming of our Lord "when the dead in Christ shall rise first." A Loving Friend, Gertrude Kuykendall
