SADLER, 83 DIES SUNDAY Death came to W.H. Sadler last Sunday morning following an illness extended over several months. Mr. Sadler was 83 years old and had spent his entire life in Jackson County. In 1898 he was elected sheriff of the county and served one term, again in 1916 he served as sheriff of the county two years. A staunch Democrat he had always taken an active part in public affairs and was a recognized leader by his friends. He was a man who always stood for the right and in any movement for the betterment of his county. His influence was always exerted to bring about the better condition. A good man whose advice was sought by those who needed advice and a man who could be depended on to do what he promised. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Mr. Sadler was married in 1886 to Miss Vina Ray. To them were born four children, three girls and one boy. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Kate West and Miss Mary Sadler of Gainesboro, and Mrs. Frank Bailey of Fayettville, one son, Postmaster J.C. Sadler of Gainesboro, also one half brother, Raz Dixon of Portland, Tenn. Five grand-children and three great-grand-children. Besides these many relatives and friends mourn his death. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church Monday afternoon by Rev. F.F. Moore, pastor of the Methodist Church, assisted by Bro. Ralph Shell, pastor of the Church of Christ. Internment in the Johnson Cemetery.
