This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Catherine Trumm ==================================================================== Feb 29, 1940 Jackson Co, Sentinel Mrs. Joe Whitaker Mrs. Zulema Hunter Whitaker, 48, daughter of the late John and Mary Blakely Hunter was born March 29, 1892 and departed this life Feb 22, 1910. she was married to Joe Whitaker in 1904. To this union were born eight childrn, one son , Marcus, died an infant. Surviving her are her husband Joe Whitaker, Three daughters, Mrs. Lattie Johnson, Mrs. Dewey Collins, and Mrs. Russell Watson; four sons, Herman, Marshall, Donald, and Elmer Whitaker; one sister, Mrs. George Kinnard; two brothers, Jordan Hunter of Gainesboro, and Zeb Hunter of California, and several grandchildren. She was converted into the Christian faith eight years ago and paid the tribute of her love and faithful labor in this service. she was a good mother as well as a good neighbor. She was kind hearted and sympathetic, always willing to render her service to any in need and especially to the sick. Funeral services were held at the Gainesboro Baptist Church, the Rev. F.L. Stone, of Baxter officiating. Burial in the Pharris Cemetery, three miles south of Gainesboro.
