Holston River. (Written down the left side of page) Moses Ballinger to } Deed Ezekiel Trogdon for 50 Acres of land lying on Holston River in Jefferson County, Registered December 3rd 1808. This Indenture made this twelfth day of the second month in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred & five between Moses Ballinger of Jefferson County and State of Tennessee of the one part and Ezekiel Trogdon of Grainger County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that he the said Moses Ballinger for and in consideration of the sum of eighty three dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged and him self fully satisfied hath Granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely grant bargain sell convey & conform unto him the said Ezekiel Trogdon to him his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land Containing fifty acres be the same more or less lying in the County of Jefferson situate on the South side of Holston River (being part of a tract of land granted by the State of North Carolina to the said Ballinger as by deed bearing date August 23rd 1788 may be seen) Beginning at a dogwood tree on the bank of Holston River being Prigmore’s North east Corner run(n)ing thence South on his line Seventy poles to two dogwoods being the South east corner of said Prigmores tract thence S. 89 degrees East fourteen poles to a Black Oak on said Ballinger’s back line thence North fifty three degrees east Seventy poles to a stake thence North One hundred and forty poles to a Beech & Sugar tree on the bank of Holston river thence following the River down its various meanders to the Beginning together with every right title and privilege there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining and he the said Moses Ballinger doth hereby bind himself his heirs Executors & Administrators well & truly to warrant & defend the aforesaid premises with all their appurtenances to him the said Ezakiel Trogdon to him his heirs and assigns forever free & clear from all lawful claim or claims whatsoever. In witness whereof he the said Moses Ballinger hath here unto set his hand & seal the day & year above written.
