Holston River. William Ballengers Deed to James Fielden Registered May 15 1838. This Indenture made this Seventeenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two. Between William Ballinger of the County of Jefferson and State of Tennessee of the one part and James Fielden of the County of Grainger and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Ballenger for and in Consideration of one hundred Dollars to him paid the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath Sold and conveyed and by these presents doth sell and convey unto James Fielden his heirs and assigns for conveyance a certain tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Jefferson and State of Tennessee on the South side of Holston River and on the South side of a Knob near a field made by Moses Ballenger. Containing twenty two acres more or less. Beginning on a post oak thence East fifty poles to a black oak thence North seventy poles to a white oak thence West fifty one poles to a black oak South seventy poles to the Beginning. Surveyed September the 6th 1814 with its appurtenances unto the said James Fielden his heirs and assigns forever and that the said Wm. Ballinger for himself his heirs and assigns the said tract of Land against him and his heirs and assigns and all persons whatsoever to the said James Fielden his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever Defend. Fielden Bird Pate State of Tennessee } Jefferson County } A Deed of Conveyance from William Ballenger to James Fielden for twenty two acres of Land lying and being in the County of Jefferson & State of Tennessee on the South side of Holston River bearing date the 17 day of October 1832 was presented before me Joseph Hamilton Clerk of the County Court of Jefferson for probate and then upon came James S. Fielden and Bird Pate the subscribing witnesses to the same who being duly sworn deposeth that they are personally acquainted with William Ballenger and that they saw him Sign Seal & Execute the same upon the day it bears Date.
