Holston River. John Ballinger Deed to James Fielden Registered May the 14th A.D. 1838. This Indenture made this 17th of October in the year of our Lord 1832. Between John Ballinger of the County of Jefferson and State of Tennessee of the one part and James Fielden of the County of Grainger and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the Said John Ballinger for and in consideration of one hundred and fifty Dollars to him in hand paid the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath sold and conveyed and by these presents Doth sell and convey unto the said James Fielden his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Jefferson and State of Tennessee on the South side of Holston river and on the South side of a Knob. Containing fifty acres including a small tract of twenty two acres. Beginning on a hickory running North one hundred poles to a Stake on a ridge near a post oak thence west forty poles to two hickorys thence South forty poles to two small post oaks thence west thirty poles to a Stake near an ash and Chestnut thence South one hundred and forty poles to a Spanish oak thence East to the Beginning with the appurtenance to have and to hold unto the said James Fielden his heirs and assigns forever and that the said John Ballinger for himself his heirs and assigns the said tract of Land against him and his heirs and assigns and all persons whatsoever to the said James Fielden his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever Defend by these presents. Fielden Bird Pate State of Tennessee } Jefferson County } A deed of Conveyance from John Ballinger to James Fielden for fifty acres of Land lying and being in the County of Jefferson & State of Tennessee on the South side of Holston River bearing date the 17th day of October 1832 was presented before me Joseph Hamilton Clerk of the County Court of Jefferson for probate and then up came James S. Fielden and Bird Pate the subscribing witnesses to the same who being duly sworn deposeth and sayeth they are personally acquainted with John Ballinger the Bargainor & that they saw him Sign Seal and Execute the same upon the day it bears date.
