Holston River. William Ballingers Deed to Samuel Box Registered March 28, 1838. This Indenture made this Twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord 1837. Between William Ballinger of the one part and Samuel Box of the other part both of the County of Jefferson and State of Tennessee. Witnesseth That the Said William Ballenger for an in Consideration of the Sum of three Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath Bargained Sold and Conveyed and by these presents doth bargain Sell and Convey and confirm unto the Said Samuel Box a certain tract or parcel of Land Containing fifty nine acres be the Same more or less lying in Jefferson County and Situate on the South Side of Holston river being part of the tract Moses Ballenger owned in his life time. Beginning at a black oak near the river Prigmores corner running thence down the river sixty two poles to a mulberry Tree thence North Eighty Degrees East three Hundred poles to a white oak thence North four and one half poles to a Dogwood being Prigmores South East corner thence with Prigmores line North Eighty nine Degrees West two hundred and eighty four poles to the Beginning. Together with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appurtaining and all the Estate right title Interest Claim and demand Whatever of him the Said Wm. Ballenger in and to the said lands and premises and every part and parcel thereof. To have and to hold the Said Land and premises above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the Said Samuel Box his heirs and assigns forever and all and every other person or persons whatever will warrant and forever defend to the Said Samuel Box his heirs and assigns. Was presented before me Joseph Hamilton Clerk of the County Court of Jefferson for acknowledgment and then upon Came William Ballinger Jr. the Bargainor with whom I am personally acquainted and acknowledged the Same to be his act and Deed for the purpose therein Contained.
