Holston Samuel Box Deed to Jackson Ballenger Registered the 25 April 1845. This Indenture made this the fourth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine. Between Samuel Box of the County of Jefferson and State of Tennessee of the one part and Jackson Ballinger of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the Said Samuel Box for an in consideration of the sum of twenty five dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and delivered with the said Jackson Ballenger his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land lying in the County and State aforesaid on the South Side of Holston River and Bounded as follows Beginning on an Elm tree on the bank of the river below a Spring and Run(n)ing down the river to a large notty poplar thence Square off from the river up the Clift to a post oak the corner of William Ballenger’s tract thence North with the top of the Clift to the Corner of a five Acre tract that Alesey Ballenger holds then with said line down the Clift to the Beginning five acres more or Less, to have and to hold the above described tract of Land with all the rents issues proffits(sic) and benefits there unto belonging to the said tract of Land to the only proper use of him the said Jackson Ballenger his heirs and assigns forever the Said Samuel Box doth hereby agree to warrant and defend the title of Said Land against all manner of person or persons whatever either in law or Equity Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of us, the day and date above written. Samuel Box (Seal) Test Aaron Ballenger Lee Ballenger State of Tennessee } Jefferson County } A Deed of Conveyance from Samuel Box to Jackson Ballenger for a certain tract or parcel of Land lying in the County of Jefferson State of Tennessee on the South Side of Holston river Containing five acres bearing date the 4th day of January 1839. Was presented before me James Fuller Clerk of the County Court of Jefferson for probate and thereupon Came Aaron Ballenger and Lee Ballenger the Witnesses thereto who being duly sworn depose and Say that they are personally acquainted with Samuel Box the Bargainor and that they Saw him Sign Seal and execute the Same upon the day it bears date.
