Holston River. John Ballinger Deed to Marcus J. Parrott Registered Sept 6th 1839. This Indenture made and entered into the 19th August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight Hundred and thirty nine. Between John Ballinger of the County of Jefferson and State of Tennessee of the one part and Marcus J. Parrott & Jos. H. Parrott of the other part all of the County & State aforesaid. Witnesseth that the said Ballenger for and in Consideration of two hundred and fifty Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt is hereby acknowledged hath and by these presents Bargain & Sold, released surrendered and confirmed unto the said Parrotts, a certain piece or parcel of Land it being a part of a tract of Land that William Lay formerly owned being in the County and State aforesaid on the South Side of Holston river Containing fifty acres more or less running as follows. Beginning on a bunch of maples on the bank of the river thence North Eighty five East 33 poles to a walnut thence South Sixty three East 22 poles to a poplar thence South four East 19 poles to a Stake thence South Eighty five East 40 poles to a Stake thence South three East 42 poles to a white oak thence South Thirty five East 34 poles to a poplar on the old line thence West with the old line to the river thence up the meanders of the river to the Beginning with all and singular its appurtenances woods and waters to hold unto the said Parrott his heirs and assigns forever to warrant and defend both in law or Equity all his the Said Ballenger his heirs and assigns right or claim forever in Witness whereof the said Ballanger has set his hand and Seal the day and date above Written Signed Sealed and Delivered in presence of these witnesses. D. 1839 was presented before me Joseph Hamilton Clerk of the County Court of Jefferson for acknowledgement and then upon Came John Ballenger the Bargainor whom I am personally acquainted and acknowledged the same to be his act and Deed for the purposes therein Contained.
