Holston River John Bethell Deed of Conveyance to Austen Bethell Registered March 28th 1838 This Indenture made this the seventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five Between John Bethell of the County of Jefferson and State of Tennessee of the one part and Austen Bethell of the State and County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Bethell for Inconsideration of Six hundred Dollars the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath Sold and Conveyed and by these presents doth Sell and Convey unto the Said Austin Bethell his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Jefferson and State of Tennessee on the south side of holston river on the waters of Lost Creek beginning on a piece hoging corner thence North seventy five poles to post oak thence west one Hundred and two poles to a stake thence South Eight poles to a hickory thence west Eighty poles to hickory thence South fifty four poles to a black oak thence East to the Beginning with its appurtenances unto the said Austen Bethell his heirs and assigns forever and that the Said John Bethell for himself his heirs and assigns the Said tract of Land against him and his heirs and assigns and all persons whatsoever to the Said Austen Bethell his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said John Bethell hath hereunto Set his hand and Seal the day and year above written. John Bethell his (Seal) John Ballinger William Ballinger State of Tennessee } Jefferson County } A deed of Conveyance from John Bethell to Austen Bethell for a certain tract of land number of acres not mentioned lying and being in the County of Jefferson on the South Side of Holston river on the waters of Lost Creek bearing date 7 day Of October 1825 was presented before me Joseph Hamilton Clerk of the County Court of Jefferson for probate and then upon came John Ballinger & William Ballinger the subscribing witnesses to the Same who being duly sworn depose and Say they are personally acquainted with John Bethell the Bargainor to the same and that they (saw) him sign seal and Execute it upon the day it bears date Witness my hand at office in Dandridge the 23 March 1838.
