Julian Ballenger and Lea Ballenger Deed to A. J. Ballenger for 35 acres Registered September 23rd day 1859 This Indenture made this 2nd day of April 1857 between Ballenger & Lea Ballenger her husband of the one part and A. J. Ballenger & Amanda M. Ballenger of the other part who is the wife of said A. J. Ballenger. Witnesseth that the said Julian Ballenger and Lea Ballenger for & in consideration of the sum of Four hundred dollars to them in hand paid doth bargain sell & grant unto the said A. J. Ballenger & wife Amanda M. Ballenger their heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract of Land or parcel of land lying and being in the 7th Civil District in the County of Jefferson and State of Tennessee adjoining the lands of William Smith and B. F. McFarland & bounded as follows. Beginning on a White _______on the bank of Holston River in the mouth of the Big hollow, Thence South 30 degrees East up the river seventy poles to a Spanish oak on the bank of the river, Thence West one hundred & twenty poles to a black oak & pine on a ridge, Thence North twelve degree East sixty poles to a white oak in the Big hollow, Thence down the hollow with the road to the beginning, supposed to contain thirty five acres more or less with all & singular and hereditaments & all and every thing appertaining & belonging to said land or premises & the said Julian & Lea Ballenger will forever warrant and defend this title to the said land to said A. J. Ballenger and Amanda M. Ballenger against the lawful claims of themselves and their heirs and assigns & against the claims of all other persons whatever either in law or Equity In Witness whereof we the said Julian and Lea Ballenger have hereunto set our hands and seals the day & date above written. McFarland & Aaron Ballenger two of the subscribing Witnesses to the within Deed after being first duly sworn depose & say that they are acquainted with Juliann Ballenger and Lea Ballenger the Bargainors that they saw them sign seal & execute the within Deed for the purposes therein contained.
