James T. Allsup Deed to Aron Balenger 57 ˝ acres Registered Nov 23rd 1866. I James T. Alsup for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and Eighty nine dollars to me paid or secured to be paid I have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Aaron Ballenger and his heirs a tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Jefferson State of Tennessee in District No. 7 of said County on the South side of Holston River adjoining the lands of said Ballenger and others and bounded as follows. Beginning at a Bush in the bank of the River, said Balengers corner, running South 67 East with his line Eleven poles to a rock, thence with the same South nin(e)ty three poles to a Black Oak and Dogwood, with the same South 68 East forty six poles to a Stake, thence South 28 East Eight poles to a Hickory said Balengers and Hankins corner, then with Hankins line North 65 East fifty poles to a rock in the Jam of a fence, thence North ten ˝ poles to a Stake, thence South 73 East thirty Eight poles to a Chestnut Hankins corner, thence South 55 East fifty five poles to a black oak on a Ridge marked with the letter A. said Hankins and George Smiths corner thence North 85 West twenty one poles to a Chestnut & white oak sapling, thence South 80 West forty four poles to a white oak sapling thence North seventy west fifteen poles to a white oak, thence North 54 West eleven poles to a Walnut, Thence North 71 West ninety two poles to an Elm in the River bank, thence down the river South 15 West Eight poles to the beginning containing fifty seven and a half acres more or less. To have and to hold the same forever to the said Aron Balenger and his heirs I bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said land every part thereof against the lawful claim of all persons whatsoever, In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 8 day of September 1866.
