RIGGS, 50 acres, Registered 24th June 1811 This Indenture made this first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven between RICHARD PREDDY of the State of Tennessee and County of Jefferson of the one part and JOHN RIGGS of the State and County aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that for in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to the said RICHARD PREDDY in hand paid by the said JOHN RIGGS at or before the sealing or delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge hath granted bargained sold ______ ______ and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell ______ _____and confirm unto the said JOHN RIGGS and his heirs all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said County of Jefferson on the North side of French Broad river beginning at two white oaks on the bank of sd. river thence South 84 degrees west and one hundred and forty poles to two black oaks thence North 31 poles to a poplar thence North 46 degrees East 108 poles to a black oak and chesnut thence south sixty seven degrees East 54 poles to a hickory at the mouth of a branch on the bank of said river thence down the different meanders of the river to the beginning containing fifty acres of land be the same more or less which tract or parcel of land I do warrant and defend unto the sd. JOHN RIGGS his heirs and in fee simple and the _____ and ______ remainder and remainders rents and interests thereof also all my estate wright(sic) title property claim and demand whatsoever of him the sd. RICHARD PREDDY to have and to hold the sd. tract or parcel of land and premises unto the sd. JOHN RIGGS his heirs and assigns forever and the said RICHARD PREDDY for from himself his heirs Extrs. or Admins. the sd. tract or parcel of land above described with the appurtenances unto the sd. JOHN RIGGS his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend against the claim or title of all manner of persons whatever in Testimony hereof I the sd.
