BENJAMIN BRADSHAW



   Benjamin Bradshaw applied for revolutionary pension in the East Tennessee

Agency in 1834. He was then living in Jefferson County, Tennessee. He is listed

in the 1840 Census as eighty-two years of age and he was therefore born about

1758. His birth is given in the pension papers as "in the year 1757 or on May

28, 1758," in Fluvanna County,Virginia. He served as a private in Virginia

troops as follows: In the year 1776 or 1777 three months under Captain Richard

Napier and Colonel Earnest; late in 1777 four months under Captain Daniel Tilman

and Colonel Taylor; in 1781 four months under Captain Daniel Tilman and Colonel

Earnest; in 1781 two months under Captain Joseph Haton an Colonel Earnest.



   He married in Fluvanna County, Virginia, Fanny Melton, June 22, 1787,

according to the family record, which was submitted by the widow. She was born

in Fluvanna County. In 1843 she was 74 years of age, which, places her birth in

1759. Benjahin Bradshaw died in Jefferson County, January 12, 1841. Hie widow

applied for pension in 1843 and was living in Jefferson County in 1849. They had

moved from Fluvanna County, Virginia, after the Revolution, to Montgomery

County, Virginia, and later to Jefferson County, Tennessee.



   Their children as shown on the family record were Nancy Bradshaw, born 1788;

Mary Bradshaw, born 1791; Betsy Bradshaw, born 1793; Patsey Bradshaw, born 1795;

Larner Bradshaw, born 1799, and Pierce W. Bradshaw, born 1803.
