He served during the Revolution in the Virginia troops. He died in Jefferson County, June 16, 1829. He married Mary Hays, Aug. 15, 1781 or 1782. She applied for widow's pension while living in Jefferson County. Feb. 4, 1839. Their children were: Sarah Peggy, Aley (Alexander?), Polly, Betsy, Nicholas H., Samuel, Nelly, Mahala and James.
